Greetings all! Thank you for visiting our website.  We are your one-stop shop for all of your plumbing needs. We are CAM Total Service OF FLORIDA. Based out of Southwest Florida.  We are a local veteran-owned business, here to serve you!

We offer Emergency Services and we have had many instances where people have had Garbage Disposal Crisis.  We have seen it all from very foul smells to utensils that slipped through and caused a jam.  If your garbage disposal is not working and it is clogged- CALL A PLUMBER YOU TRUST. It can be very dangerous to stick any body parts or miscellaneous items into your sink.

SAFETY FIRST!

The reason for this blog post is to share some insight to help you save time and money.  In this piece, we will share a few simple tips and advice on how to avoid garbage disposal issues.

Let’s be honest…no one taught us what it is for. We all know there is a switch and we can throw things down there and turn on the loud “slicer” as many consumers believe. The truth is that you can’t throw anything you want down a sink- BIG NO NO.

So what is it good for? Disposing food scraps (scraps as in small amounts) with hot food.

COMMON GARBAGE DISPOSAL NO NO’s: (DON’Ts)

  1. Large amounts of rice (water makes it expands)
    1. If you must…put hot water down with it
  2. Pasta
  3. Egg Shells
  4. Large Amounts of Foods
  5. Fruit
  6. Fruit Peels
  7. OIL! (Oil Will Harden)

Did you think we were just going to share common causes? We are also sharing some maintenance advice. Below are somethings that will help keep your Garbage Disposal in shape:

  1. Cup of ice with table spoon of oil (This will break down sludge and build up)
  2. Use it as minimal as possible
  3. Want it to smell fresh? Use a citrus peel, turn it on briefly and remove the peel when you turn it off.

We hope this blog post is helpful for you! Share tips and your own experience on our social media pages! We’d love to hear from you! Or simply e-mail us your experience to: danny@camtotalservicefl.com
